Overview
The “Biomedical Microsystems” group is part of the Max Planck Research Group “Micro, Nano, and Molecular Systems” at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems. Research in the group aims to understand the key principles behind the propulsion and actuation through biological media at small scales. The research focuses on developing a novel surgical tool that is capable of moving through biological tissue for biomedical interventions. Research focuses on 1) viscoelastic media 2) wireless actuation schemes 3) novel 3D fabrication methods for microstructures, especially using soft materials, development of 4) new biomimetic materials for testing and training of biomedical devices, and 5) early stage experiments with start-up firms and collaborators from University medical groups and clinics.
